Opposition's uproar in senate during Azam Tarar's speech
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – During Azam Nazeer Tarar’s speech in the Senate meeting on Monday, the opposition created a commotion and chanted slogans for Azam Swati’s production order.
Senate Chairman Sadiq Sanjarani presided over the meeting. The chairman allowed to present the bill as the law minister requested the bill for foreign investment.
Subsequently, the PTI senators surrounded the chairman dais and protested and chanted slogans for Mr Swati’s release. Senate sergeants were called upon to control the uproar.
Furthermore, Pakistan Peoples Party s newly-appointed Senator Waqar Mehdi took oath. The chairman asked the PPP senators to stop chanting slogans in the upper house. During the Senate meeting, fateha was offered for the martyrs and former senator Najma Hameed and the upper house also unanimously passed the condolence resolution.
Earlier, the Senate passed a resolution expressing deep grief over the death of former Senator Begum Najma Hameed. The resolution moved by Minister for Law Azam Nazeer Tarar, saying Begum Najma Hameed was a seasoned and distinguished politician, and her services would long be remembered.
The Senate passed the Foreign Investment Promotion and Protection Bill 2022. Later, it was adjourned to meet again on Thursday at 3 pm.
